About
I care about software that stays understandable after the interesting part is over.
I’m Luke Bayliss, a software engineer in Melbourne. My background is strongest in TypeScript and Node, with Go, .NET, architecture, delivery, and developer tooling making regular appearances.
How I work
Practical systems, deliberate trade-offs.
I enjoy turning unclear domains into maintainable systems: finding the useful boundaries, making trade-offs explicit, and leaving behind code that another person can safely change.
I prefer evidence over confidence, simple tools over unnecessary platforms, and automation that removes repetition without hiding how the system works.
Away from the keyboard
A few other things.
Motorcycles, climbing, sim racing, home-gym tinkering, and a long-running interest in games where systems collide in unexpected ways. Some of that will inevitably find its way into the writing.
